Frequently asked questions

Taking the first step shouldn’t feel overwhelming.

Choosing counseling for your child or family is an important decision. Here are answers to some of the questions parents ask most often.

The first session is an opportunity to learn more about your child, your concerns, and your goals for counseling. We’ll discuss strengths, challenges, and what support may be most helpful moving forward. Most importantly, we’ll begin building a safe and trusting relationship.

Counseling services are available for children, adolescents, and young adults. Sessions are tailored to each client’s developmental level, needs, and goals.

Support is available for anxiety, emotional regulation, self-esteem, school-related challenges, social skills, peer relationships, behavioral concerns, family transitions, grief, loss, and parent-child communication.

Parents play an important role in a child’s growth and success. While confidentiality is respected, parents are included through collaboration, support, and practical strategies that help reinforce progress outside of sessions.

The Rising Point Counseling is currently a telehealth-based practice serving clients throughout Texas. Virtual sessions provide flexibility, privacy, and convenience for children, teens, and families. Limited in-person options may be available through partnering offices and can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Many clients begin with weekly sessions to establish consistency and build momentum. As progress is made, session frequency may be adjusted based on your child’s needs, goals, and level of support.
